In 2011, shortly after Jake had been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, we held the first ever Jake Lyons ‘Cancer Sucks’ Golf Classic at Bradshaw Farms.  The ‘Jake Drive’ was born and we raised $5,000.  In 2014, after Jake lost his hard-fought battle with colon cancer, his friends Billy Pratt and Tim O’Shea came to Tommy and I and asked how they could help us to continue Jake’s legacy.  Since that time there have been five consecutive Jake Lyons Memorial ‘Cancer Sucks’ Golf Classic events.  And, with the support we have received from you and our many event sponsors, we have - since that first event at Bradshaw Farms - raised in excess of $225,000.  All monies raised have been earmarked to support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s efforts in furthering research in the area of young-onset colorectal cancer.

     Regrettably, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, logistical and other familial health issues we have been unable to continue our efforts with respect to the Golf Classic.  However, the need for funding in this area has in no way declined.  Young-onset colorectal cancer is on the rise and it is more critical than ever that we find out why.

     Please know that we are in the process of evaluating the possibility of holding a 10th anniversary 'Reunion' event to be held some time in the fall of this year.  More information to come...  As always, we continue to appreciate the difference you are helping to make.
